Email & enquiries

Enquiries are never lost

Every enquiry is written to your database before any email is attempted.

If your mail host has a bad day, the notification is delayed — the booking is

still there, in your dashboard.

Set up SMTP

Mail sent through a host's default transport very often lands in spam. Use a

real provider.

WordPress: Meridian → Email

Meridian Studio: Settings → Email

You will need, from your provider:

  • Host, e.g. smtp.postmarkapp.com
  • Port — 587 with STARTTLS, or 465 with SSL
  • Username and password
  • A "send from" address your provider has verified

Postmark, Fastmail, SendGrid and Google Workspace all work.

Test it

Both products have a send a test message button. On the standalone

platform, a failed test shows the full conversation with the mail server, which

is usually enough to see what is wrong.

SPF and DKIM

Configure these DNS records with your provider. Without them delivery is poor no

matter what you set here — this is the step people skip and then wonder why mail

goes to spam.

Automatic replies

Both products can send a confirmation to whoever fills in the form. {name},

{site_name} and {site_url} are filled in automatically.
